Parsons School of Design is the most well-known fashion school in the United States, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Application is competitive for all courses, but particularly so for postgraduate students — with only a fourteen percent acceptance rate. The school has expanded their curriculum to include minor degrees in order to promote cross-education throughout the university. Parsons students are regularly finalists and winners in international fashion competitions. In their comments, students expressed that not many teachers focus on technical skills, and only about 65 percent of BA and MA students in our survey were satisfied with technical skills education. Careers services were rated poorly by MA students, as were Parsons’ business and marketing courses. The school has recently completed construction of a multi-disciplinary “Making Centre” designed with the most advanced, sustainable practices in digital technology and physical craft. That investment, along with Parsons’ international expansion, currently limited to a second campus in Paris, suggests Parsons’ global prestige will continue.
